CONTEST WINNERS

   Well, the entries are in and the six winning poets have been chosen. This was a hard decision for me to make so I had a few of my close friends read over them and cast their votes as well.   I want to thank everyone for their poem entries to my first contest and I also want to let everyone know that another contest will be starting soon (not poetry). Congratulations to the five authors of the winning poems listed below.

FIRST PLACE "Hope"

Through many nights & early morn,
Walking fields in search of mushrooms born.
I've found peace & stillness rare,
Uncovering fruits these pastures bare.
People relish on the "Trip" or the "High",
Grasp for understanding, deep meaning or why.
I find content, solace and wellbeing,
Knowing what I've felt and all that I've seen.
Feels sometimes more real, unlike a dream,
While everyday reality remains quite extreme.
Soon there will come a day when the truth will be exposed,
Facts will come to light, lawmakers will loath.
Intellectual people, positive thinkers alike,
Will use their power and their right.
Changing unjust laws by majority vote,
Is something for which we all can hope.

SECOND PLACE "Sacred Respect"

Spirits from across the Milky Way,
invite you if you dare, to hear what they say.
A spirit of truth, opening mind's doors,
has come to the Earth Mother, encased in spores.
Ancient and old as creation they are,
eat their fruit and discover who you are.
A key to the universe, without and within,
teaching the truth, that there is no end.
Some pursue them strictly, for fun and for play,
their attitude is, come what may.
Then there are the ones who understand,
in humbleness, the approach is for the good of man.
As in all things, they are neither good or bad,
it is our intent realized, that leaves us happy or sad.
The mushroom can show us what is truely in our heart,
will your experience leave you together or apart?
Truth is, they are for but a few,
approach with respect is the best you can do.
For they take you where angels fear to tread,
And all of these worlds are in your head.

THIRD PLACE "Mr.C"

Stem staff and orange cap,
he governs his brood amongst the crap.
Some are big and some are small,
they all comand you to trip and fall.
He's A fungi, and shows you his town,
he invites you for dinner, you kindly sit down.
They're all so kind and make you feel good,
you ate your fill, then leave like you should.
Off & tripping you follow his trail,
protecting the clan he fends off A snail.
You thank all your new friends & Mr."C",
he says the names Silocybe ( with a " P " ),
Leaving his feild you walk down the road,
Psilocybe rides home on the back of A toad.

FOURTH PLACE "My Friend the Mad Scientist"

My friend the mad scientist,
Made me a shake,
Full of protien and a moldy rice cake.
It's chunky and thick,
Makes me sick.
But I know as I swallow,
Of the fun that will follow.
Ten minutes will reveal,
A new way to feel.
And I anticipate,
A thrilling fate.
I play with a stick, and with tracer delight.
It floats thru the air, on this beautifull night.
So I lay back in the grass, to enjoy the show,
The world's about to change, and I cant wait to let go.

FIFTH PLACE "My First Experience"

  My thoughts reeling, as I enter this new realm
  The colors intense and my mind wanders free
  So many things to learn and new sights to see

  I am in another place, my spiritual self-becoming more real
  I let my worldly body go and reach for my inner being
  My sex is not, my species is fleeing

  I am at one with a greater consciousness
  My soul reaches out into the universe hungrily
  I feel all those who have left our known reality

  My mind expands past the bounds of my body
  I sense my soul mingling with things unknown
  I can feel that my inner self has fed and grown

  My souls eye has opened and focused
  I feel enlightened on all levels and delight in the power
  My experience the sun, my soul the flower

  I can never explain all that I've seen
  But the Sacred Mushroom has fed my soul
  It has shown my spirit the ultimate goal

"HONORABLE MENTION" "Simple Life"

I found what I need to take me to the inner strands of life,
something to get me through the long night.
They made the darkness blue and the shadows grey,
then everything went black - my mind started to stray.
Three minutes later in what seemed like a dream,
everything felt so right and my sinces so kean.
I went back to to the beginning of time,
Everything was pure - there was no such thing as crime.
Life was so simple just a few years ago,
and with a blink of an eye your whole life can unfold.
I would do anything to go back and with shrooms I can return,
they have so much to teach and I have so much to learn......

   This was the first contest at my website, but I'm hoping it is the beginning of something new and exciting. Hopefully future contests will have bigger and better prizes.
